Finance Ministry sources stated that the IMF delegation will arrive in Pakistan on September 23. Both sides will negotiate the fifth tranche of the existing loan program, and all preparations for the review talks have been completed.
Sources added that Pakistan will brief the IMF delegation on its economic performance through June 2026 and report on targets met under structural benchmarks.
Discussions will also cover targets for economic and energy reforms, as well as goals concerning circular debt in the gas and electricity sectors.
Following successful talks, Pakistan will receive the fifth installment of the existing Extended Fund Facility (EFF) loan program, amounting to a substantial $1.2 billion.
Additionally, Pakistan might secure $200 million to help mitigate climate change losses.
The 37-month loan program was approved in September 2024. Pakistan received the first $1 billion installment in September 2024, followed by a second $1 billion installment in May 2025, and a third installment on December 11, 2025.
